The daughter of Jharkhand became the first tribal woman Vice Chancellor of the country. Professor Sona Jharia Minj has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University.
She was till now the dean of the Computer Science Department at JNU. She has also been the President of JNU Teachers Association. Among all the universities of the country, Sido Kanhu Murmu University Dumka is the first university where a tribal woman has been appointed Vice Chancellor twice.
Professor Sona Jharia Minj is the daughter of Nirmal Minj, the famous leader of the Jharkhand movement.
A woman named Sona (tribal woman) is representing the vice-chancellor by taking the 799 Universities of India!
